I want to make an effort to share more online in a way that celebrates the human internet and at least whispers in defiance of the direction of the internet at large.
This is the first post in a new, separate feed which will simply be a collection of links to stuff that I want to share. The rest of this site is built as a record of my personal projects, but this feed will be dedicated to stuff made by others.
Future posts will likely just be individual links, but here is a dump of a few things to try and get the ball rolling.
Bent Knee
I discovered this band in 2018 and they immediately became an all-time favourite. They are inventive, highly skilled musicians and compelling performers. Several of the members have also have deep catalogues of high quality solo material which is also worth diving in to: Courtney Swain, Jessica Kion/Justice Cow, and Ben Levin.
(Ben and Jessica are no longer in the band, sadly).

A group of friends play ‘board games’ using one or more real-life countries as the board. Endlessly delightful.
No More Jockeys
Taskmaster is probably my favourite TV show, so finding out that Alex Horne, Tim Key and Mark Watson had a lockdown-induced gameshow on the side was immediately of interest. Years later, I cannot overstate how much I love this game.
The rules are simple:
- Take it in turns to name a person and a category that that person belongs to
- The named person must not belong to any previously defined category
- If another player believes a person does belong to a previous category they can raise a ‘challenge’. The third (ostensibly neutral) player then has 90 seconds to find evidence to confirm that suspicion. If successful, the challenged player is out of the game; otherwise the game continues.
- Each player can use up to three challenges. If their third challenge is unsuccessful, they are out of the game.
- Last player standing wins.
Hijinks inevitably ensue as the list of forbidden categories grows and players find themselves arguing about whether racing is Penelope Pitstop’s job and therefore whether she counts as someone who wears ‘job gloves’ or not. The three players are life-long friends and the format of the game gives them plenty of dead-air to fill with playful, good-natured improvisations and mini games.
It’s just good fun.
